LiveAgent costs $15 to $59 per agent per month on its three self serve plans. Starter is $15 monthly ($11 annual) for up to 5 agents, Team is $29 ($22 annual) for up to 15, and Business is $49 ($38 annual) for any team size, at the regular rates shown on the pricing page. Enterprise is a flat $3,999 a month with 80 agents included. There is no free plan, only a 30 day trial without a card.

If you run support for a team of five to fifty, the useful questions are what the seat price becomes at your headcount, which plan limits you will hit first, and what you do about assignment once the desk grows. This guide uses the published figures only. For the assignment side, our guide to support ticket routing shows what a routing layer adds beside any helpdesk.

How much does LiveAgent cost per agent?

The figures below come from the LiveAgent pricing page, read November 1, 2026. The page showed promotional prices on the three self serve plans that run until November 22, 2026, so both the offer and the regular rate are listed. Prices are in USD.

PlanMonthly offer / regularAnnual offer / regularAgent limit
Starter$15 / $19$11 / $15Up to 5
Team$26 / $35$22 / $29Up to 15
Business$44 / $59$38 / $49Any size
Enterprise$3,999 a month flat ($3,199 annual)80 included, then $49 ($39 annual) each

Plan the budget on the regular column, because the offer ends. A 10 agent desk on Team annual is $290 a month at the regular $29, or $3,480 a year.

Is there a free LiveAgent plan?

No free plan is listed. The page offers a 30 day free trial with no credit card required. That is enough time to run a real week of tickets through the product and judge it on your own queue, which is the better test than a feature list.

What does LiveAgent cost for 10, 20 and 50 agents?

Seat price times headcount, using the regular annual rates. The plan has to allow the headcount, which is why 20 agents cannot sit on Team.

AgentsPlan neededMonthly (annual billing)Per year
5Starter$75$900
10Team$290$3,480
15Team$435$5,220
20Business$980$11,760
50Business$2,450$29,400
80Enterprise$3,199$38,388

Note the shape of that curve. Going from 15 to 20 agents moves you from Team to Business and the price per agent jumps from $29 to $49. Enterprise only beats Business per seat at roughly 65 agents on annual billing ($3,199 against $49 times 65). Below that, Business is cheaper.

Which LiveAgent limits will you hit first?

Beyond the seat cap, the pricing page lists limits by plan, in the order Starter, Team, Business and Enterprise:

  • Event rules: 50, 150, 500 and unlimited. These run actions when something happens, such as a new ticket.
  • Time rules: not on Starter, then 30, 100 and unlimited.
  • SLA rules and levels: not on Starter, then 5 rules and 5 levels, 50 rules and 20 levels, and unlimited.
  • Departments: 10, 20, 150 and unlimited.
  • Ticket history: unlimited on every plan.

Event rules are the lever most teams use for routing: if the subject contains a word, assign to a department. A team with six product lines, three languages and a VIP tier can burn through 50 rules fast, which is the usual reason a desk moves from Starter to Team before it needs more seats.

Does LiveAgent have round robin ticket assignment?

The pricing page does not name round robin or ticket routing as a plan feature, so do not assume a particular rotation method is included in the price. Confirm in the trial exactly how a new ticket picks an agent inside a department, whether it honors an agent's status, and whether it can cap open tickets per person. Those three answers decide whether you can run on native rules or need something on top.

When does native assignment stop being enough?

Rules that route by keyword work until the desk has specialists and shifts. The signs are consistent: tickets for one product pile on one person, the weekend crew inherits Friday evening work, and a lead spends an hour a day moving tickets by hand. Each of those is a rule you could write, which is how a desk ends up with 400 event rules nobody wants to touch.

A routing layer replaces that pile with one policy per queue. Assigner chooses the owner from round robin, weighted rotation, load balancing, skills and live availability, using shift schedules and time off, and records the reason for each assignment. It is priced per user, not per ticket: Starter is $7 per user per month billed yearly ($15 monthly), Team is $18 ($36), Business is $36 ($72) and Enterprise is $49 ($98), with a five user minimum. It does not replace LiveAgent, and connecting it is configuration work rather than a native one click app.

AgentsLiveAgent Team annualAssigner Starter yearlyAssigner Team yearly
5$1,740$420$1,080
10$3,480$840$2,160
15$5,220$1,260$3,240

The Assigner columns are annual per user rates times 12 times the number of users, taxes excluded. They are an add on to the helpdesk bill, not a replacement for it.

Is a routing layer worth it beside LiveAgent?

Only if misrouting costs more than the tool. Pull a week of tickets and count how many reached an agent who was off shift, how many specialist tickets went to a generalist, and the gap between your busiest and lightest agent. At a loaded cost of $30 an hour, a lead who spends two hours a week rebalancing is about $3,100 a year. That is more than a ten user Assigner Starter plan at $840. If the counts are small, stay native and put the money into coverage.

How should you choose a LiveAgent plan?

Count the agents you will have in twelve months, not today, because the cap forces a plan change. Count the departments and rules you need and check them against the limits above. Ask for the regular price in writing, since the offer rates expire. Then price the same headcount on Help Scout and Zendesk, where routing is tied to the plan tier. A closed ticket is also the right moment to learn how it went, so many teams pair the helpdesk with an online survey tool for customer feedback and read the scores next to resolution time.
