Zendesk pricing is per agent. Support Team is $19 per agent per month billed annually ($25 monthly), Suite Team is $55 ($69 monthly), and Suite Professional is $115 ($149 monthly). Suite Enterprise is quoted by sales. Every plan routes tickets by agent status and capacity, but skills-based routing and priority-based routing start at Suite Professional, so a support team that wants tickets matched to the right agent pays $1,380 per agent per year for it.

The prices below were read from Zendesk's public pricing page in October 2026, in USD. The routing differences come from the same page's plan comparison data and from Zendesk's help center articles on omnichannel routing. If you only need the plan list, the first table is enough. If you are deciding whether to move from Suite Team to Suite Professional for routing, the cost table further down is the part to read.

Zendesk pricing plans in 2026

Zendesk sells two families. Support is the ticketing product on its own. Suite bundles ticketing with messaging, live chat, voice, a help center and AI agents. Most teams buying today are pointed at Suite, and the Support Team plan is now positioned for small teams that only need a shared inbox for email tickets.

Suite Team$55$69By agent status and capacity
Suite Professional$115$149By status, capacity, skill and ticket priority

Annual billing saves $6 a month per agent on Support Team, $14 on Suite Team and $34 on Suite Professional. That last gap is large enough that most teams on Professional sign an annual contract. Zendesk offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, and there is no free plan.

What else lands on a Zendesk invoice

Seats are the headline, but three add-ons show up on real Zendesk bills, and each one is priced per agent too.

  • Copilot, the AI assistant for agents, is $50 per agent per month billed annually and can only be added to Professional and higher plans. On Suite Professional that takes the seat to $165.
  • Contact Center is $83 per agent per month billed annually, for teams that run voice at contact center scale.
  • Omnichannel Advanced Routing is listed as an add-on on every Suite plan, for contact flows across self-service, AI agents and live interactions. Zendesk quotes it through sales.

AI agents are included in Suite plans with a limited allowance of automated resolutions. Past that allowance Zendesk bills per automated resolution, meaning per request the AI agent resolves without a human. Budget it separately if you plan to lean on AI agents, because it scales with ticket volume, not seats.

Teams whose whole support operation is still a handful of email addresses sometimes do not need a help desk at all yet. If that is you, a tool that pulls every shared mailbox into one place can carry you until volume justifies seats.

Which Zendesk plan includes skills-based routing

Every Zendesk plan includes omnichannel routing, Zendesk's engine for pushing email, messaging and call tickets to agents. What changes by plan is what the engine is allowed to consider.

  • Support Team and Suite Team route by agent status and capacity. Tickets go into a standard queue, and the assigned group decides who is eligible.
  • Suite Professional and Suite Enterprise add skills-based routing and ticket priority, plus custom queues with their own conditions. Skills-based routing on these plans supports up to 10 skill types with 30 skills each.

Two details matter more than the plan name. First, Zendesk chooses the agent who has gone the longest without being assigned work on that channel. It calls this round robin, but it is longest idle selection, so an agent who closes tickets quickly gets more of them. We cover that in detail in our guide to Zendesk round robin ticket assignment. Second, capacity limits are advisory. Agents can assign themselves work beyond their limit, so the cap protects nobody who clicks quickly. Both behaviors are the same on every plan, including Professional.

The setup traps are also plan independent. Turning on omnichannel routing sets every agent to offline, and email tickets only route when a trigger assigns a group and adds the auto routing tag. Our page on Zendesk omnichannel routing walks through each one and the plan table behind it.

What Zendesk routing costs for 10, 20 and 40 agents

Here is the annual seat cost for three common team sizes, billed annually, before add-ons and AI resolutions.

AgentsSupport TeamSuite Team, status and capacitySuite Professional, skills and prioritySuite Team to Professional step
10$2,280$6,600$13,800$7,200
20$4,560$13,200$27,600$14,400
40$9,120$26,400$55,200$28,800

The step from Suite Team to Suite Professional is $60 per agent per month, $720 per agent per year. It buys more than routing. Professional also adds custom queues, HIPAA enablement under a business associate agreement, up to 100 light agents who can read tickets and leave private comments without a full seat, and the right to add Copilot. If you need two or three of those, the step is easy to justify. If skills-based routing is the only reason, a 20 agent team is paying $14,400 a year for one feature, and the feature still picks the longest idle agent inside the skill match rather than the one with the least work.

When Suite Professional is worth it for routing, and when it is not

Professional is the right call when you need its other features anyway, when you route by language or product line across a large team and want it all inside Zendesk, or when compliance requirements point you there. The routing then comes along at no extra decision cost.

It is a poor deal in three situations we see repeatedly.

  • A team that wants fairness by workload. No Zendesk plan balances by open tickets. Longest idle and advisory caps are the same at $19 and at $115.
  • A team that also routes leads or ops work. Zendesk routing only routes Zendesk tickets. Sales leads in a CRM and internal requests in another tool need a second routing setup with its own rules.
  • A team that has to explain assignments. Zendesk records who has the ticket, not why they got it. When a manager asks why one agent took twice the escalations last week, there is nothing to point to.

A cheaper way to get skills and load based routing beside Zendesk

The alternative is to keep Zendesk for the inbox, the help center, messaging and reporting, and buy routing separately. Assigner sits beside Zendesk and decides who gets each ticket. It assigns by round robin, by skill or by current open load, skips agents who are out or at their cap, and writes the reason on every assignment, such as skill match, lowest load and available. Our Zendesk routing alternative page compares the two engines rule by rule.

Skill-based assignment is on Assigner Starter at $7 per user per month billed yearly, and load-balanced and priority routing is on Team at $18, both with a 5 user minimum. For 20 agents, Suite Team plus Assigner Team comes to $17,520 a year, against $27,600 for Suite Professional, and adds load balancing and a recorded reason that Professional does not have. With Starter for skills only, the same team pays $14,880. Assigner does not replace Zendesk custom queues, HIPAA terms or Copilot, and it does not guarantee response times, so compare it against the reason you were upgrading.

The same pattern shows up in other help desks. Our breakdowns of Freshdesk pricing per user and Help Scout pricing find skill or balanced routing on the upper tiers too, and our comparison of skills-based routing software lists which platforms put it on which plan.

Zendesk pricing FAQ

How much does Zendesk cost per agent?

Support Team is $19 per agent per month billed annually or $25 monthly, Suite Team is $55 or $69, and Suite Professional is $115 or $149. Suite Enterprise is priced by quote. Copilot at $50 per agent and Contact Center at $83 per agent are add-ons on top.

What are the Zendesk pricing plans?

Zendesk sells Support Team for ticketing on its own, and three Suite plans that bundle ticketing with messaging, voice, a help center and AI agents: Suite Team, Suite Professional and Suite Enterprise. Annual billing is cheaper than monthly on every plan.

Which Zendesk plan has skills-based routing?

Suite Professional and Suite Enterprise. Support Team and Suite Team route by agent status and capacity only. On Professional and Enterprise, routing also considers skills and ticket priority, and you can build custom queues with their own conditions.

Does Zendesk have round robin assignment?

On every plan with omnichannel routing turned on. Zendesk assigns to the available agent who has gone longest without work on that channel, which it calls round robin. It is longest idle selection, not a fixed rotation, and it does not count how many tickets an agent already holds.

Is Zendesk Suite Professional worth it?

It is worth it when you need several Professional features, such as custom queues, HIPAA enablement, light agents or Copilot. For routing alone it is expensive, $720 per agent per year over Suite Team, and it still does not balance by workload.

Does Zendesk have a free plan?

No. Zendesk offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card required, and then every plan is paid per agent.
