A Salesforce Field Service Dispatcher license costs $175 per user per month billed annually, the same as a Technician license. Contractor Plus is $80 per user per month or $32 per login, Field Service Plus is $230, and Agentforce 1 Field Service is $650. Every Field Service org also needs at least one Service Cloud user license, so the real cost of a crew is the field seats plus that base license, and for most teams the Dispatcher line is the one worth questioning.

The prices below come from the Salesforce Field Service pricing page and its footnotes, read in October 2026, in USD at list price. Salesforce sells on annual contracts and negotiates, so treat these as the starting point of a quote, not the number on the final order form.

Scheduling and optimization are listed across all five editions, so you do not move up a tier to get the scheduler. Salesforce offers a 30 day trial without a credit card. AI features such as the scheduling agent run on Flex Credits, which only the Agentforce 1 edition includes.

What the Dispatcher license is, and who actually needs one

The Dispatcher license is for the people who work the dispatcher console: building the schedule, moving jobs on the Gantt, running optimization, and releasing work to technicians. In most service businesses that is a small group, but the license count tends to creep. Coordinators who only need to reassign a job now and then, branch managers who want to see the board, and office staff who book appointments over the phone all get asked for Dispatcher seats at $2,100 a year each.

Two footnotes on the pricing page shape the count. Existing Service Cloud customers need at least one Dispatcher license to add Field Service. And Dispatcher and Technician licenses may not be used for contact centers or case management applications, so a support agent who also handles cases needs a Service Cloud license, not a Dispatcher seat stretched to cover both jobs. Before you sign, list every person who will open the console and write next to each name what they do there. Anyone whose only job is deciding who gets a work order is a candidate for something cheaper.

The Service Cloud license every Field Service org needs

Field Service is not sold on its own. The footnote reads that Field Service and Operations requires at least one Service Cloud user license. If you already run Service Cloud, you have it. If you are buying Field Service for a business that has never used Salesforce for service, add at least one Service Cloud seat to the quote. On the Service Cloud pricing page we read in late September 2026, the editions ran from $25 per user per month for Starter Suite through $100 for Pro Suite and $195 for the Core edition, so that base seat adds $300 to $2,340 a year depending on the edition your admin and integrations need.

Is Field Service Plus cheaper than separate licenses?

It depends on what each person does. Field Service Plus at $230 combines the Dispatcher and Technician capabilities with Service Cloud and Sales Cloud functionality. A dispatcher who also works customer cases would otherwise need a Dispatcher seat at $175 and a Service Cloud seat, which is $275 a month on Pro Suite and $370 on Core. For that person, Field Service Plus saves $45 to $140 a month. For a technician who only works jobs in the mobile app, Plus costs $55 a month more than the Technician license for desk features they never open. Price the two groups separately.

What a 25 technician crew pays in a year

Here is a realistic mid size service company at list price: 25 employed technicians, 3 dispatchers, 5 subcontractors on Contractor Plus per user, and one Service Cloud Pro Suite seat for the admin.

LineSeatsMonthly per seatYearly
Technician25$175$52,500
Dispatcher3$175$6,300
Contractor Plus5$80$4,800
Service Cloud Pro Suite1$100$1,200
Total at list price34$64,800

Implementation is extra and often larger than the first year of licenses, because scheduling policies, territories, skills and work types all have to be modeled before the optimizer gives useful answers. If many jobs start as phone calls, the booking step is its own cost line too, whether that is office staff or an AI receptionist that answers and books service calls. Neither shows up on the Salesforce pricing page.

Do you need Dispatcher seats just to assign work fairly?

This is the question that changes the quote. The Field Service scheduler is built to place appointments in time and minimize travel. It grades candidates on objectives such as ASAP, Minimize Travel, Minimize Overtime, Preferred Resource, Resource Priority and Skill Level, and none of those measure how much work each technician already carries. Teams that are not route bound, such as depot repair, remote support, inspections booked by the day, or work orders triaged before a visit is planned, often buy the scheduler for one reason: to get each job to the right person without a dispatcher choosing by hand. We break down how the policies, work rules and the auto dispatch job actually decide that on our Salesforce Field Service auto dispatch page.

If that is your situation, a separate assignment engine can do the who part for a fraction of the cost. Assigner picks one owner per work order by rotation, current open workload, skills, territory and live availability, and writes the reason on the record, at $7 per user per month billed yearly or $15 billed monthly. Field Service can still own the time slot and the mobile app for the technicians who need it. Teams already running ServiceNow for field work face the same split, covered in the best work order assignment software for ServiceNow, and the general pattern for crews is on the dispatch assignment page.

Questions to ask Salesforce before you sign

  • Which of our users truly need the dispatcher console, and can coordinators who only reassign work use a lower cost license?
  • Is our existing Service Cloud license enough, or does the quote add a new one?
  • Are contractors cheaper per login or per user at our expected monthly logins? At $32 per login, a contractor who logs in three or more times a month costs more than the $80 per user rate.
  • Which scheduling features in our design need Enhanced Scheduling and Optimization, such as the Work Capacity rule?
  • What happens to the price at renewal, and is a cap on the increase written into the order form?
  • Do we pay for Flex Credits to use the scheduling agent, and how fast will we consume them?

If you are also pricing Salesforce territory features for the sales side, the Salesforce territory management license guide covers which Sales Cloud editions include them.

Salesforce Field Service license FAQ

How much is a Salesforce Field Service Dispatcher license?

$175 per user per month billed annually at list price, which is $2,100 per user per year. The Technician license is the same price. At least one Service Cloud user license is also required for the org.

What is the Salesforce Field Service license cost for a technician?

The Technician license is $175 per user per month billed annually. Outside contractors can use Contractor Plus at $80 per user per month or $32 per login instead.

Is scheduling optimization included in every Field Service license?

The pricing page lists scheduling and optimization across all editions, from Dispatcher to Agentforce 1 Field Service. Some advanced capabilities, such as the Work Capacity work rule, depend on Enhanced Scheduling and Optimization being enabled in your org.

Can a Dispatcher license be used for case management?

No. The pricing footnote says Dispatcher and Technician licenses may not be used for contact centers or case management applications. People who work cases need Service Cloud, or Field Service Plus, which includes Service Cloud functionality.

What is the cheapest way to assign field work fairly in Salesforce?

If you need route and time slot optimization, the Field Service scheduler. If you mainly need each job given to the right available technician with balanced workload and a recorded reason, an assignment engine such as Assigner at $7 per user per month billed yearly costs far less than Dispatcher seats for everyone who assigns work.
